Happy Fourth of July
Hope everyone has a safe 4th of July! We have had several Fire/EMS runs this morning. Nothing major but still hope that the rest of the weekend will be quiet. the boys are in the fields cutting hay now that the rain has stopped. The weatherman states that this area of Michigan will be sunny or partly cloudy but cool. Nice weather to be in the fields.

It has been awhile
Many things have been happening on Empty Pockets Farm. The kids and I have been gathering hay and spraying the crops. We have several more fields to go and hope that the rain will stop so that we can get the reat of the hay in.
I have been working on several projects when I am not in the fields. I have recovered four wooden folding chairs from my mother-in-law. I recovered them in a bright flowered printed oilcloth. Another project that I have been doing is painting my dining room and bathroom. The dining room is being painted a medium green while the bathroom is painted a very pale pink.
I also have been crocheting shawls for my sister Cindy and myself for our trip to Hawaii. Both of us finished our Master's degrees and are treating ourselves to this trip. The shawls are my design in black and silver Glitterspun yarn from the Lion brand yarn.
I will post pictures as soon as I figure out how to do so.

First Blog
I have been visiting other blogs and have decided that I would like to do one too. This will be an adventure for me in the written word. I just finished my Master's degree and told myself that I would not write anything for a long time, yet here I am writing again. I am a special education teacher in a middle school. I love to garden and to do needlework. Today has been a day to work in the yard. I recently learned how to use the riding lawn mower so today was a day to cut the little more than an acre of lawn that I have. I also work on planting flower boxes for our feed store as well as for the porches and patio. We have been having heavy frosts for the last two weeks that I have not wanted to place my pots out. The garden has been planted but we have had to cover it every time a frost has been predicted.
Tomorrow I will be working on my very long to do list. One thing that I will be working on is cleaning out the cupboards in the bathroom. I am planning to clean the bathroom and then to paint the bathroom a very pale shade of pink. I find that I decorate in the Shabby Chic or a relaxed country decor.
See you soon. Carlina
